Are you ready to embark on a rewarding career in substance abuse rehabilitation?
The Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Technician (SART) program is a collaborative training initiative offered by the University of Maine at Augusta (UMA) Mental Health & Human Services Program and the University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) Rehabilitation and Human Services Program. This unique program is made possible through a collaborative training grant funded by the Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan.
The SART Certificate Program provides students with the necessary coursework to meet the education requirements for entry-level licensure in substance use disorder treatment in Maine. Whether you’re interested in becoming a substance use treatment counselor, pursuing a degree in a related field, or looking to enhance your existing qualifications, the SART certificate offers a comprehensive educational foundation.
The online 10-course SART certificate program prepares students to become Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselors.
Discounted Tuition
Thanks to the collaborative training grant, students enrolling in either the UMA Mental Health and Human Services Program or the UMF Rehabilitation and Human Services Program with a concentration in Substance Use Treatment will be eligible to receive free tuition for up to 50% of the SART Certificate courses over the next year. This incredible opportunity allows you to pursue your passion for helping others without the financial burden.
To be eligible for the grant, you must apply for admission. There is no cost to apply. Once you’ve applied and been accepted, you can then apply to be considered for grant funding for up to a 50% tuition waiver toward your SART pathway courses. The grant is funded by Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan (MJRP) – The Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan is Governor Mills’ plan approved by the Legislature to utilize Maine’s share of the federal pandemic relief funds provided by Congress. The MJRP funds came to the University of Maine System for workforce development, and were awarded for this project by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation.
