Clinical counseling services for all UMA students are available at both campuses and via Zoom.

We’re located in Katz Building Suite 33 on the Augusta campus and in 126 Eastport Hall on the Bangor campus.

Counseling can be a great resource to help enhance your academic success as well as your overall college experience. UMA counselors provides a safe, non-judgmental setting where you can discuss your challenges and get support. You and the clinical counselor work together to agree on what issues you want to address, and what you want to get out of the counseling process.

Counseling can have many lasting benefits including: improved coping and problem solving skills, improved ability to deal with difficult situations and emotions, decrease in problematic emotional and mental health symptoms, increased self-awareness, improved communication and relationship skills, identification of individual strengths, and an overall increased ability to face life’s challenges.

UMA clinical counselors also provide education, training and consultation to faculty and staff, and work to maintain a University environment which is conducive to growth and maximizing the college experience.

Students seek counseling for many reasons such as (but not limited to):

  • Stress management
  • Problems at home or in relationships
  • Anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns
