Failed Appointments

Failed appointments will be documented in the patient’s record.

Failing more than one appointment will disallow a patient from making another. In this instance, those patients will be placed on a short-notice cancellation list.

If the patient subsequently attends two consecutive scheduled appointments without failing, normal scheduling procedures will be permitted.

Canceled Appointments

Short-notice cancellations will be documented in the patient’s chart.  If a patient cancels two appointments within a short time span, this will disallow a patient from making another.  In this instance, those patients will be placed on a short-notice cancellation list.

If the patient subsequently attends two consecutive appointments without canceling, normal scheduling procedures will then be permitted.

Please be advised that the Dental Clinic may be canceled or delayed due to inclement weather.

Notification will be posted both on our website (www.uma.edu) and phone voicemail (207-262-7872).

PLEASE ALWAYS CHECK THE WEB OR PHONE MESSAGE PRIOR TO COMING TO YOUR APPOINTMENT IF THERE IS A CHANCE OF INCLEMENT WEATHER.

Give Kids A Smile®

"Give Kids a Smile!" Logo

The American Dental Association reports that over 300,000 children are provided with free oral health education, screenings, preventive and restorative treatment annually through Give Kids a Smile® Programs.

In 2024, the UMA Bangor Dental Health Program’s event provided free dental services to approximately 27 children. All children were seen by a Maine licensed dentist for an exam and our UMA students provided all the other preventive dental services including prophylaxis cleanings, 31 sets of X-Rays, 47 dental sealants placed, and 24 fluoride treatments.

Our next Give Kids a Smile® event will take place in February 2025. We will begin scheduling appointments in January. Don’t miss it!
