Bassist Duane Edwards is an accomplished musician currently residing in Portland, Maine. Duane has performed throughout New England, across the United States, and Canada; and notably at Lincoln Center. He studied jazz at the University of Maine at Augusta with Boston bassist Greg Loughman, Thelonious Monk Institute Award recipient Steve Grover, Richard Nelson, Frank Mauceri, and Chuck Winfield. Duane has also studied with jazz heavyweights Ben Allison and Drew Gress. In 2020 he completed his Masters Degree in Jazz Studies from the University of Southern Maine, studying under Bronek Suchanek. He performs in a variety of groups with styles ranging from jazz to rock to cuban; and has shared the stage with musicians such as Chuchito Valdes, Emilio Valdes, Jon Langford, Ben Taylor, Otis Redding III, The Hot Sardines, Jonathan Edwards, Trombone Shorty, and Philadelphia Poet Laureate Yolanda Wisher. By his mid-thirties he has racked over 3,000 gigs. Mr. Edwards is the jazz bass professor at the University of Maine at Augusta, Bowdoin, and Colby. |
