Dr. Gauvin has been a nurse for 23 years. She earned her ADN from CMMC School of Nursing, her BS in nursing from USM, and her Master’s in nursing with a dual concentration in nursing education and management from the University of Phoenix. She completed her research doctorate in 2016 in Health Administration. Her research was The Effect of Simulation on Critical Thinking in Associate Degree Nursing Students: A quantitative research study. Her nursing career has included cardiopulmonary, critical care, cath lab, maternity, and med/surg. She spent 8 years of her nursing career working in simulation teaching providers across the healthcare spectrum and in academia integration of simulation for improved patient outcomes and for NCLEX success. She maintains her ACLS and BLS certifications as she continues to practice on a per diem basis in the special care unit at Rumford Hospital. She entered into nursing education in 2004 and has taught in associate degree, baccalaureate degree, and master degree programs. She has served in an academic leadership role since 2015. Dr. Gauvin believes that nursing is not a job or a career, but how one chooses to share themselves with the people you serve. On a personal note, Dr. Gauvin enjoys spending time with her family, skiing, snowmobiling, ice fishing, camping, golfing, and relaxing on the beach or a boat with a good suspense novel. |
