The UMS Board of Trustees (BOT) is seeking to fill two vacant seats that are reserved for students. The BOT (in consultation with the Chancellor) is the governing body of the University of Maine System (UMS). The BOT handles major decisions in financials (ex. tuition rates + budgets), academic affairs (ex. academic programs + tenure), policies and much more.

Serving on the BOT provides opportunities to gain state government experience and to have a direct impact on higher education in the State of Maine for current and future students. Per state law, these are unpaid roles; however, Trustees are reimbursed for expenses incurred while performing their official duties (travel, lodging, meals, etc.)

If you are interested in exploring this opportunity, please email Grace Hills (grace.hills@maine.edu) on or before August 8th, 2024.
