The American Board of Dental Examiners (ADEX) recently appointed Nancy Foster, UMA Associate Professor of Dental Health to serve as the ADEX Dental Hygiene Exam Committee Educator. She will represent District 10, which includes Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont. As part of this ADEX committee, she will develop the clinical licensing exams for both the dental and dental hygiene professions.
Associate Professor Foster teaches in both the dental hygiene and dental assisting programs in a wide array of didactic, online, laboratory, and clinical courses. She is currently an active member and clinical board examiner for the Commission on Dental Competency and Assessment (CDCA). Nancy served as complaint officer and past member and Treasurer/Secretary of the Maine Board of Dental Practice.
ADEX is an organization of State Boards that develop the clinical licensing exams for both the dental and dental hygiene professions. The ADEX Dental Hygiene Examination is based upon specific performance criteria to measure clinical competence. Students take the exam as they are about to complete their dental hygiene training and prepare for state licensure.
