Anne Fensie, lecturer in the CIS and EDU programs at UMA, recently published two articles about adult learners in distance education. “Engaged learning during distraction: A case study of successful working moms in distance education” was a collaborative research project that profiled adult learners as they participated in their distance courses. “A conceptual model for meeting the needs of adult learners in distance education and e-learning” synthesizes research on adult learners, presenting strategies for addressing cognitive, social, and emotional factors important for the success of adult learners in computer-mediated instruction.
