Are you a Center student who would love to get involved with student government at the General Assembly level? Are you interested in receiving up to $2,500 in tuition and fees waiver for the Fall and Spring semester?

The Distance Education Student Coordinator (DESC) is a current vacant position of the General Assembly (GA) and we need your help finding the right person to fill it.

The GA is the recognized governing body of all UMA students and is made up of members from each SGA and from the Student Associations (SA) from each UMA site/center. The Distance Education Student Coordinator (DESC) represents and advocates on behalf of UMA’s “distance” students (those attending classes at centers and out-of-state), and acts as the liaison between the SAs and the GA. In addition to distributing meeting schedules, agendas, and minutes they also extend voting rights to those SA members attending GA meetings.

A comprehensive list of the duties and responsibilities of the DESC can be found in Article V; Section 6 of the SGA/GA Constitution & Bylaws.

If you know any student who would be a great fit for this position, please let us know. The deadline for applying for this position is July 19th. If you would like to join us at our next meeting to see what the GA is all about, please do so. Check the UMA Calendar for details.
