The senior Dental Hygiene Program students and Assistant Professor Tracey Jowett have been invited to present at the Dirgio Pines Inn, Orono Maine. The topic is on the importance of oral health in older adults and the newly launched MOTIVATE at Home Program by the Lunder Dineen Health Education Alliance of Maine. This presentation is a collaboration between the UMA Dental Hygiene Program and Lunder Dineen Health Education Alliance of Maine. The presentation is planned for April 10, 2025 from 1-2pm at the Dirgio Pines Inn in the KGP room and is open to the public at no charge (in-person presentation).
About the Program
“MOTIVATE at Home” is a free oral health education program. It is ideal for care partners of older adults who reside in their homes. By participating in the program, we hope you will learn:
- The connection between oral health and overall health.
- Why older adults are at greater risk of oral health problems?
- The steps for adequate at home oral health care.
- How to speak to your health care provider about oral health.
